A Little About My Hometown The U.S. Virgin Islands

Introduction

I'm from the US Virgin Islands, a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea. The USVI have a unique culture and history that make it an amazing place to visit. If you're planning a trip there or just want to learn more about this beautiful part of the world, check out my favorite links below!

A Little about my hometown the U.S. Virgin Islands

You may be wondering what the USVI is. Well, let me tell you! The U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) are a group of islands that make up an unincorporated organized territory of the United States—it's technically like being a country unto ourselves, but without sovereignty from the United States. We're located in the Caribbean Sea east of Puerto Rico and west of Anguilla, with Bermuda to our south and Saint Martin to our north (you can see a map here: Property - US Virgin Islands - MapGeo). It's made up of three major islands—St Thomas, St John and St Croix—and one non-major island called Water Island.

The United States took possession of the islands on March 31, 1917

The United States took possession of the islands on March 31, 1917, after they were purchased from Denmark. While they are not a state nor a country, they are an unincorporated territory of the United States and have been since that time until today. The U.S. Virgin Islands are also a popular shopping destination, and they have been one since 1607!

The 3 major islands that make up the U.S. Virgin Islands total up to just about 135 square miles but may be much larger with its 50+ smaller islets and cays. St Thomas is home to the only cruise ship port and the capital city of Charlotte Amalie

There's so much more to the USVI than most people think, it's a hidden gem in the Caribbean!

It's a fact that most people don't know much about the USVI (United States Virgin Islands), and they definitely don't know what it has to offer. It's a great place to visit, but it's also a great place to live!

You might be wondering: "Are there any other islands in this chain?" Yes! The USVI consists of three main islands: Saint Thomas, Saint John, and Saint Croix. These islands are home to around 120,000 people who speak English as their first language and some who speak Spanish, Arabic, and French as well. That means if you're looking for somewhere where everyone speaks more than one language (which is pretty rare), then head over to the USVI!
